Meghan Markle to champion women on SA tour
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has been promoting women empowerment on the world stage – and that will also be the case when she visits South Africa.

Markle’s visit comes at a time when South Africa itself is grappling with a painful and dark cloud of femicide and crimes against children.
The Duchess will be working with organisations and NGOs to promote women’s education, health, entrepreneurship and leadership.
Markle and her family will be landing in Cape Town on Monday for their 10-day visit.

Several engagements have been scheduled including a visit to the Woodstock Exchange to meet female entrepreneurs in technology and talks at the High Commission in Cape Town.
“Women have played an important role in South Africa’s socio-economic and political development,” Markle said in a statement.
As a patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Markle will join discussions with young women about their role in the future of South Africa.
