The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a feast at the home of a Bo-Kaap resident in Cape Town on Tuesday.
The Samsodien-family prepared a Cape Malay spread of note! And by the look of the table, the stocked heirlooms of crockery and cutlery were dust off for the occasion.
“And of cause, moenie vergeet [don’t forget] – the whole thing on the table nie. Vanaf ‘n koesister na ‘n daltjie van ‘n daltjie na ‘n tertjie and things like that you know,” said Samsodien.

The distinctive multi-coloured homes on steeply cobbled roads came about following the scrapping of a rule which barred the slaves living in them in the 1760s from painting it any other colour than white.
When the rule was lifted, and the slaves were allowed to buy the properties they were all painted in bright colours by their owners as an expression of their freedom.
Samsodien praised Prince Harry for paying respect to their history and the fight for liberation.
