[WATCH] Surprise! A royal birthday for Nyanga community leader

Theodora Luthuli woke up Monday morning celebrating her birthday and also got the surprise of her life when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, pitched up to congratulate her.
The 67-year-old is known in the community of Cape Town for her generosity and willingness to make a difference.
The area in Nyanga where The Justice Desk is stationed was first home to a community outreach program which Luthuli ran.

She was under the impression the people who were gathered at the non-governmental organisation were there to celebrate her birthday – unaware that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be also be in the crowd.
The organisation wanted to surprise her.

The Justice Desk is aimed at educating children about their rights, self-awareness and safety.
The NGO also provides self-defense classes and female empowerment training to young girls in the community.
Over 35 000 residents have benefited from the program which is supported by the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
