Blane Promnitz doing just fine after his life saving operation!
BACKGROUND:
We heard about the plight of 11-year old Blane Promnitz from Polokwane on Good Morning Angels and Good Morning Angels Extra last month.
He's never been able to walk, but his parents were never clear on why. Blane needed a scan, to enable doctors to see the exact extent of his condition. He also needed to be educated in a special school, where his specific needs are catered for.
His parents were unable to afford these and our Angel, Paul van Niekerk from CNC Clear Cut sponsored his school fees until the end of the year, as well as the cost of the scan: more than R36 000 in total.
The scan then revealed that Blane needed much more help: He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. His spine was 50 degrees mis-aligned and it is getting worse. Children with this condition seldom live beyond the age of 12, but with a special operation, his life-span could be vastly improved, although he would not ever be able to walk. The cost of the operation was set at R140 000,00 and Paul made it his mission to raise those funds.
With the help of many generous donors to the special bank account and SMS number, in August last year, the money was raised and Blane had that life saving operation.
This morning, we catch up, to hear how Blane is doing now that he's had the operation and he's living with his mom in Mozambique.
THE ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Goeienaand,
Ek het julle hulp asb dring nodig - ek is regtig desperaat. My kêrel se seuntjie, Blane, is 10 en word 11-jaar oud. Hy is gestremend en in 'n rolstoel. Hy bly al 3-jaar lank by sy pa.
Dis baie hartseer. Ek vra groot asb as daar enige iemand is wat hom kan help en uitreik na Blane, sal hom so gelukkig maak en hoop gee, want tans het hy geen hoop of lewenslus nie.
Baie dankie,
Lanzette Vermeulen
