Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Here are 11 things Gen Z might consider status symbols that older generations don't get.

What once represented wealth might not be the same as today's status symbols. Although these symbols change over time, history seems to repeat itself.

YourTango recently compiled a list of 11 things Gen Z thinks encapsulate a feeling of status, wealth, and affluence.
Here they are:
1. Shopping at premium grocery stores
Gen Z views buying organic and high-end groceries as a status symbol, prioritising health and wellness over traditional luxury items.
2. Thrifted or second-hand luxury items
Instead of buying new designer goods, Gen Z prefers second-hand luxury for sustainability and affordability.
3. Vacations
Travel and experiences are a priority for Gen Z, even if it means taking on debt, as homeownership feels out of reach.
4. Apple iPhones
Despite alternative options, Gen Z sees iPhones as a non-negotiable status symbol, often willing to overspend to own one.
