The 21 rules to follow on a first date

Martin Bester came across a list of rules that specifically men should follow when going on a first date. 

In this list by Derry Glenn, there are a few things that are "really important" on a first date if a man wants to impress a woman. 

The Breakfast with Martin Bester team discussed these rules and debated which ones they agreed with and which ones they didn't. 

Here is the full list: 

1. Be there early so you don't leave her waiting. 
2. Grab her some flowers and a card to show you appreciate her time. 
3. Open doors for her. 
4. Compliment her. 
5. Settle her in with a hug.
6. Smell good.
7. Be attentive (stay off your phone).
8. Lead the date.
9. Make sure to smile and keep eye contact.
10. Make her laugh.
11. Always walk on the outside of the street.
12. Ask how she's feeling.
13. Keep the conversation interesting.
14. Stay in the moment.
15. Remember that your ex doesn't exist.
16. Be honest.
17. Don't make everything about you.
18. Know something about the menu to recommend.
19. Make sure you pay the bill.
20. Let her know you had a great time.
21. If you drop her off, walk her to her door.
