50 hijacked buildings reclaimed in Johannesburg

The City of Johannesburg has managed to reclaim more than 50 hijacked buildings that have turned into hubs for crime syndicates where government officials are involved.
The Group Forensic and Investigation Services Unit has confirmed that they have managed to reclaim more than 50 hijacked buildings in Johannesburg.
According to eNCA, the City of Johannesburg says it's confident it will win the war against property hijackers.

Some of these hijacked buildings have turned into hubs for criminal activity.
The Group Forensic and Investigation Services Unit spokesperson Lucky Sindane confirmed that some government officials are part of these crime syndicates. "When they come to you they produce documents that look legitimate... they're dealing with a syndicate here."

"Up to so far, we've handed 56 properties to the rightful owners. They tell us who are the hijackers. These hijackers take advantage of poor people coming to the city. It will take time, but we'll slowly get there. We're now seeing results," he said
