'7de Laan' makes history with first lesbian kiss

Almost a year after airing South Africa's first gay kiss on TV, '7de Laan' has done it again. This time the soap surprised viewers with a lesbian kiss.
Popular Afrikaans soapie '7de Laan' continues to break new ground by showcasing LGBTI+ storylines. A recent episode featured the soap's first lesbian kiss between the characters of Amanda (Carina Nel) and Monique (Leiden Colbet).
The episode has received mixed reaction from viewers, many of whom praised the soap for not shying away from controversial issues.

This comes more than a year after the soap, which has been going for more than 18 years, caused a stir by airing South Africa's first gay TV kiss between two male actors.
