Best five-star wines in South Africa revealed for 2021
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Purchasing a good bottle of wine to show off, save as an investment or just enjoy is one of life’s small luxuries.
South Africa's first and still best-selling wine annual, Platter's Guide, is the comprehensive, up-to-date, and authoritative go-to regarding who's who and what's what in the winelands.
Being on the Platter’s annual five-star wine list is regarded as one of the greatest achievements in the industry for wine lovers, as well as the wine industry.
Star ratings are determined by a points system ranging from 0 to 100.
Kleine Zalze Wine Estate scooped the award for 'Winery of the Year'. A remarkable seven of their wines achieved top honours of #FiveStars, which saw them rise to the top against a very strong field of contenders.
The following wines scooped top honours:
- Chenin Blanc (Vineyard Selection) 2019
- Chenin Blanc Amphora 2018
- Chenin Blanc (Family Reserve) 2019
- Whole Bunch Shiraz 2017
- Cabernet Sauvignon (Family Reserve) 2017
- Sauvignon Blanc (Family Reserve) 2019
- Grenache Amphora 2017
