Breakfast with Martin Bester and comedian and chef Chris Forrest compiled the ultimate list of braai rules ahead of the Ultimate Braai Master Live festival.
Yes, it’s wintertime, but that has never stopped South Africans from having a good old braai.
On Thursday, Breakfast with Martin Bester was joined by comedian and chef Chris Forrest to discuss the exciting Ultimate Braai Master Live festival.
To kick off this exciting festival, Breakfast with Martin Bester, Chris Forrest and our listeners compiled a list of the Top 10 Braai rules.

Breakfast with Martin Bester’s Top 10 Braai Rules:
1. Thou shalt not throw cigarette stompies in the fire
2. Thou shalt not touch the Braai Master's tongs
3. Thou shalt not ask when the fire or the food will be ready
4. Braaing chicken is like disagreeing with one's wife; once you think it’s done, give it 15 more minutes
5. Thou shalt not steal the feta cheese from the salad
6. Thou shalt always keep the Braai Master’s glass full - just not too full
7. The chicken wing is a starter
8. Thou shalt not bring wors to the braai and then eat someone else’s steak
9. The Braai master always gets to taste first and then select their support taster
10. Thou shalt always click the tongs before braaing
