Bystanders shot in Pretoria CIT robbery

Multiple bystanders were shot during a cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery in Pretoria.

The public was urged to avoid the area surrounding the corner of M43 and Molefe Makinta Street in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, on Wednesday, April 9, after a violent CIT robbery.
According to Pretoria Rekord, several bystanders were shot and injured during the ordeal.

Paul Visser from the Pretoria ICE Community Network told Pretoria Rekord that the robbery was reported at about 16:50 on Wednesday.
This resulted in a police chase of the perpetrators, and the public was warned to avoid the area.
"A CIT robbery was reported, resulting in multiple bystanders being shot. Security personnel are pursuing the suspects."
Patients were taken to nearby hospitals, and no deaths were reported following the incident.

According to an X post by crime activist Yusuf Abramjee, six suspects were arrested and two were shot dead, although this has not yet been confirmed.

Police have not yet confirmed or provided more information about the incident.
