CapeXit, a private organisation, is calling for the Western Cape to be separated from South Africa.

CapeXit is a private organisation that wants the Western Cape to be separated from South Africa.
CapeXit is an independent/non-political movement for all people of the Western Cape, regardless of race, religion or political views.

The organisation wants registered voters in the Western Cape to answer a referendum that asks whether the province should be separated from South Africa.
800,000 residents registered to try and make Western Cape a country on its own.

Breakfast with Martin Bester spoke to the operational director of the organisation, Des Palm.
"We are serious about this. We looked at the realities and the only option we have is to be independent."
With 800,000 registrations, the voice of the people is being heard loud and clear, Palm mentioned.
"We are trying to reach a million registrations. If we get 1.6-million registrations, we have reached the target figure."
