A recent video of an incident in which a truck ploughed into several cars on Kloof Nek Road in Cape Town has left South Africans in shock.

The video, which has been shared widely on social media, shows the runaway cement truck hitting several cars as it travels down the road and finally stopping after it ploughs into a nearby property.

The 24-second clip shows a man crossing the road while a red car drives past.

As the truck comes down the hill, it first hits the red car, which was about to turn left, before hitting several other vehicles parked in front of and near the ice-cream shop Tadaa.

Police previously told Netwerk24 that a reckless and negligent driving case is being investigated after the truck driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle on last Thursday evening on Kloof Nek Road.

Six people were reportedly injured, while 15 vehicles and two houses were damaged in the incident.

According to Netwerk24, police spokesperson, Capt. Frederick van Wyk, said on Wednesday that no arrests have been made as "the investigation continues."

Maxine Bezuidenhout, Cape Town metro traffic services spokesperson, said the incident occurred around 18:30.

The road was closed between Upper Union Street and Burnside Road until about 04:45 on Friday, 27 September.

The Western Cape emergency services previously reported that two people were seriously injured, and four sustained moderate injuries.
