This city has the worst drivers in South Africa

How often do you find yourself thinking or saying the words "people can't drive"? If you're anything like us, the answer is most likely every day.
Driving on South African roads can be a frustrating and often scary endeavour, but according to new data, there is one place, in particular, to watch out for.

According to Business Tech, Cape Town is the city with the worst drivers in South Africa.
Data from Budget Insurance’s vehicle accident claims show that drivers in Cape Town had the highest number of car accident claims from 2021 to 2023.
The exact numbers were not disclosed.
Now, don't think Gauteng does not have its fair share of bad drivers.
According to this data, Pretoria came in second regarding the number of car accidents, and Johannesburg was third.

Looking at provinces specifically, Gauteng came in first with the highest number of car accidents over the past two years, followed by the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

Gauteng also came in first place when it came to road-related fatalities. This is expected, however, as Gauteng is the most densely populated and urbanised province in South Africa.
Here are the top five provinces that contribute over 70% of all road fatalities in 2023:
- Gauteng (19%)
- Eastern Cape (16%)
- Kwa-Zulu Natal (16%)
- Limpopo (12%)
- Western Cape (10%)
