Afrikaans singer Dodo Nyoka has made waves across South Africa with songs like 'Meisie', 'Ek Verstaan', and 'Country Girl van Bloem'.

Unfortunately, he has faced criticism online for singing in Afrikaans.

A recent video shared on TikTok shows Nyoka clapping back at an online user who labelled him a "traitor" for singing Afrikaans music.

"So this man calls me a traitor because I make Afrikaans music? What he is saying is that because of the colour of my skin, I’m only allowed to sing African music," he said.

"The piano keys are black and white, and together, they make music that brings colour to our hearts and minds," he added.

Another clip, which shows Nyoka performing in front of an Afrikaans crowd, also received criticism.

One user asked: "Is this what white people from South Africa listen to?"

Dodo responded by posting a clip of himself dancing to his song 'Meisie' alongside a group of black and white people.

"Nope, it's what the Rainbow Nation listens to," he wrote.
