UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis has debunked claims that he is injured and withdrawing from UFC 317.

It was rumoured that Du Plessis was set to defend his title against undefeated contender Khamzat Chimaev in the main event of UFC 317.

Rumours of Du Plessis' potential withdrawal emerged after veteran MMA journalist Kevin Iole reported on the alleged injury.

"I'm hearing Dricus du Plessis is injured," Iole wrote.

"If that's accurate, a bout between Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev couldn't headline IFW."

Taking to Instagram, the UFC champion set the record straight, saying, "None of it is true."

"Okay, so everyone had their opinions and rumours and stories about a shin break and injuries, etc. I found it all very entertaining. Unfortunately, none of it is true," he wrote on Instagram.

He also clarified the situation regarding his potential fight against Chimaev.

"Myself and @ufc already discussed a fight date and opponent. The June fight was never signed. I did not pull out of any fight. I am the champion – I know when I fight. You, as a contender, just show up when we tell you to."

Du Plessis also teased that his next fight announcement will be made soon.
