Dricus du Plessis was set to defend his title against undefeated contender Khamzat Chimaev in the main event of UFC 317, which was scheduled to headline International Fight Week in Las Vegas this June.

Rumours of Du Plessis' potential withdrawal emerged after veteran MMA journalist Kevin Iole reported on the alleged injury.

"I'm hearing Dricus du Plessis is injured," Iole wrote.

"If that's accurate, a bout between Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev couldn't headline IFW."

The UFC has yet to confirm any potential changes to the highly anticipated June event.

On Sunday, Chimaev tweeted, "This guy biggest bullsh*t," in response to Du Plessis' potential withdrawal.

South Africa's champion did not hold back, responding to Chimaev's tweet with screenshots suggesting that his rival has a history of pulling out of fights.

"Let's take a look at the last ±2.5 years and tell me who's bullsht," Du Plessis wrote.

Chimaev's résumé shows that fights against Nate Diaz, Paulo Costa, and Robert Whittaker have all fallen through over the past two years, while Du Plessis has shown up for every UFC fight he's signed on the dotted line for.
