EFF threatens more protests in Gauteng

Breakfast with Martin Bester spoke to JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla about Thursday's protests on the N1 highway, as well as upcoming protests on Friday, 2 December 2022. Here's all you need to know!
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla told Breakfast with Martin Bester that the EFF is planning another protest in the Midrand area on Friday, 2 December 2022.
"Definitely, there is a protected protest or march. EFF members did apply for a march where they will hand over their list of demands or grievances."

This protest will take place at Siemens on Janadel Ave in Midrand between 10:00 and 13:00.
Those travelling to Midrand and Pretoria on Thursday, 1 December, were confronted by protesters closing down parts of the N1 north highway.
New Road and Olifantsfontein were heavily affected.

According to Jacaranda FM News, EFF members took to the streets over the release of Chris Hani's killer, Janusz Walus. Members were making their way to the office of the Chief Justice.
Fihla told Breakfast with Martin Bester that the protest was not applied for and it was, in fact, an illegal strike.
According to Fihla, "no property damage or violence was reported from yesterday's protest".

"The police can only take action once it becomes violent, but police did interfere and engaged with protesters as they were obstructing movement."
