Eight of the most expensive countries for South Africans to visit
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Thinking about travelling abroad? You might want to skip these countries…
The South African rand is in a less-than-ideal position when measured against some of the biggest currencies in the world.

According to Jacaranda FM News, as of 23 May, the South African rand is trading at R18.30 to the American Dollar.
FINANCIAL INDICATORS:

$ trading at R18.3028
€ trading at R19.8196
£ trading at R23.2905
Brent Crude $81.46
To make matters worse, the dollar isn't even the strongest currency in the world.
According to Business Tech, six other currencies trade even higher than the dollar, including the Kuwaiti Dinar, which is currently the strongest currency in the world.
It goes without saying that visiting these countries would be expensive for South Africans, but currency conversion does not always indicate the general cost of living.
To compile the list of countries that are most expensive for South Africans to visit, Business Tech also compared the cost of food, drinks, and travel to what you would pay locally in some other countries based on data by Numbeo.
Numbeo is one of the world's largest databases of user-contributed data regarding cities and countries worldwide.
