EXCLUSIVE: Wouter Kellerman returns home with second Grammy award
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Breakfast with Martin Bester spoke to Wouter Kellerman following his return to South Africa after receiving his second Grammy alongside Nomcebo Zikode and Zakes Bantwini.
Nomcebo Zikode, Zakes Bantwini and Wouter Kellerman walked away with the best global music performance for their song 'Bayethe' at the 65th Grammy awards in California earlier in February.
On Tuesday, Kellerman joined Breakfast with Martin Bester to talk about his experience and second Grammy win.
Wouter’s 2021 album Pangaea was nominated in the Best New Age album category at the 64th Grammy Awards. He received his 4th Grammy nomination for his 2022 collaborative song Bayethe with Nomcebo Zikode and Zakes Bantwini in the Best Global Performance category.
Over the course of nine albums, and through many high-profile live performances and collaborations, Kellerman has steadfastly built on the rigorous classical training of his youth, to create a signature sound that’s earned him both critical praise and multiple awards.
Among these was becoming the second only individual South African to win a Grammy Award since Miriam Makeba was honoured by the Recording Academy in 1966.
Kellerman’s Winds of Samsara was named winner in the Best New Age Album category at the 57th Annual Grammya Awards in 2015.
The full list of Kellerman's awards and accolades include:
