Five-year sentence for traffic cop who took R100 bribe

A former traffic cop was caught on camera demanding a R100 bribe from undercover agents!
Mashack Masenjwa, a former Mpumalanga traffic officer, has been sentenced to five years in prison after he was caught demanding a R100 bribe.
In 2019, Masenjwa was arrested after he unknowingly demanded a bribe from two undercover agents.

Mpumalanga Hawks spokesperson Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi said that they received information back in 2019 about a traffic officer soliciting bribes along the N4.
"On the day in question, the agent was driving next to Wonderfontein and was stopped by a traffic official who demanded a bribe of R100. The bribe was given to the agent and the transaction was recorded," said Sekgotodi.

According to News24, Masenjwa was arrested and charged with corruption on Wednesday last week.
