Foul smell in Johannesburg being investigated

Following a foul smell enveloping Johannesburg, officials are allegedly investigating the current air quality of the city.

If you live in or near Johannesburg, you might have noticed a foul smell enveloping the area.
The City of Johannesburg municipality has been receiving many complaints from Johannesburg residents over a smell lingering across the city.
Residents have claimed that the smell resembles that of sulphur or rotten eggs.

The City of Johannesburg has confirmed that they are aware of the smell and are currently investigating the cause of it.
According to MMC for environment and infrastructure services Michael Sun, he has "already requested the officials in the environmental department to investigate the smell. It's difficult to follow the smell so we ask that anybody with information on where it's intense, we can focus on the area."

Speculation about the cause of the smell is also circling after a tweet from Gauteng Weather claims that Johannesburg is one of the top three cities with the worst air quality in the world.
