Gauteng driver avoids e-toll with number plate trick
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Breaking the law is never okay, but you can’t deny the creativity of some South Africans.
A recent video of a driver automatically closing their number plate as they’re about to drive through an e-toll gantry has made waves on social media.
In the video, taken from a car behind the driver, the vehicle is seen reaching an e-toll gantry when a black cover rolls down over the number plate, covering it entirely.

As far as social media goes, many users applauded the driver for their resourceful and out-of-the-box thinking.
"We should totally be leading the innovation game. Man deserves Eskom CEO gig," commented one user.
