Updated | By Etienne Bruwer
A poll of 2,000 people between 16 and 29 years of age shows that certain emojis are used only by "old people" - and one in particular comes across as "passive-aggressive".
According to some Gen Z'ers, the 'thumbs up' emoji can come across as rude and "passive-aggressive"; some even feel attacked when it is used.
The Daily Mail reported on a 24-year-old Reddit user who believes that the 'thumbs up' emoji is best "never used in any situation" because it is "hurtful".

"No one my age in the office does it, but the Gen X people always do it. Took me a bit to adjust and get [it] out of my head that it means they're mad at me," he added.
According to Daily Mail, a recent poll also showed that young people between 16 and 29 believe that certain emojis are only used by "old people".
