Goo Goo Dolls tour postponed after singer's hospitalisation
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
The Goo Goo Dolls reveal that their South African tour has been postponed after lead singer John Rzeznik was hospitalised.
Good Life Productions has regrettably announced the unavoidable postponement of the Goo Goo Dolls' South African tour, originally scheduled for 4–7 December 2024.
The beloved band was set to perform in Cape Town, Durban, and Pretoria, but due to lead singer John Rzeznik's diagnosis and hospitalisation on the evening of the 1st of December, the tour will now be postponed to 25 – 29 March 2025.

Pneumonia is a serious condition, especially for a vocalist whose health and voice are central to their craft.
Performing while unwell could have lasting effects, so as fans of the Goo Goo Dolls, we fully support John in prioritising his recovery.
In a heartfelt message, John Rzeznik expressed his sorrow and gratitude:
"We're heartbroken to postpone our South Africa shows. This country means so much to us, and we were so excited to create more memories with you. Sadly, my doctor has advised rest and recovery. Thank you for your understanding—we’ll make it worth the wait when we return in March 2025!"
Tour Promoters Goodlife Productions and Amp events understand how much anticipation and excitement has been built around these shows, especially at such iconic venues like Kirstenbosch Gardens and Voortrekker Monument.
It is deeply regrettable that this postponement happened so close to the event, knowing how many plans have already been made by fans, performers, and organising teams alike.
However, John's health must come first, and we are deeply grateful for the understanding and kindness from fans during this time.
