Horror taxi accident in Russia shocks World Cup goers

Video footage of a taxi
ploughing into a crowd in Central Moscow has sent shockwaves across the globe.
The suspect, who tried to flee after the crash, said he had no intention of hurting anyone. It appears as though the driver wanted to overtake a fellow motorist, but then accelerates over the sidewalk towards World Cup goers. A woman is reported to be in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

“The preliminary cause of the accident is that the driver lost control of the vehicle,” the Moscow police department said in a statement. Eight people had been injured. Russia is currently hosting the FIFA World Cup and Moscow is one of its host cities.
