The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee revealed the incentives for South Africa's 2024 Olympic medalists.

South Africans can once again revel in pride after professional swimmer Tatjana Smith won the thrilling Women's 100m Breaststroke battle at the Olympics.

The gold medallist won in the nail-biting final moments of the swimming competition with a time of 1:05.28.

Smith finished ahead of China's Tang Qianting, whose time was 1:05.54, with Ireland's Mona McSharry taking bronze (1:05.59).

Except for making her country proud and having bragging rights for the rest of her life, Smith will also receive a hefty incentive.

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) recently revealed the incentives South Africans who claim medals at the Paris Olympics will receive.

Based on their promised incentives, Tatjana Smith pocketed a whopping R400,000 for her gold medal.

According to BusinessTech, Sascoc divides their monetary incentives into individual sports, relay and team sports, and boats (2 athletes).

Smith will be back in the water to defend her women's 200m breaststroke gold medal title on Wednesday, 31 July, starting at 11:00 (SA time) with the semi-finals at 21:51 and 21:58. The final is on Thursday, 1 August, at 21:04.
