According to Business Tech, it is recommended that no more than 15% of a person's salary should go to education.
Based on South Africa's current economic climate and the average salary, it goes without saying that parents are not spoilt for choice when it comes to which school their kids go to.

Hilton College in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands is still considered the most expensive school in South Africa, with an annual fee (which only allows for boarding) of R397,660 for 2024.
This means you have to earn about R2.5-million annually to enrol your child in the most expensive private school in SA.
MichaelHouse, St Andrew's College in Makhanda, Roedean School for Girls, St John's College, and Kearsney College all have annual school fees of about R350,000.
Marnus Mostert, a franchise principal and financial adviser, recommends that parents allocate no more than 10-15% of their annual household income to education.
