According to Jacaranda FM News, the price of both grades of petrol will increase by R1,21 cents per litre, while the diesel price will be hiked by between R1,06 and R1,19 per litre.
Departmental spokesperson Robert Maake said the increase is due to the weaker rand against the US dollar and higher average oil prices.
"The slate levy remains unchanged at 0 cents per litre. Transnet pipeline has decommissioned the Kroonstad pipeline from December 2023, affecting fuel transport in four district zones."

Consumers will have to adjust their budget once again to compensate for this steep price hike.
With that in mind, here are ways to reduce fuel consumption and save money:
1. Keep your tyres pumped
Underinflated tyres cause more resistance when driving, which will increase fuel consumption, so make sure to keep them pumped.
2. Keep your windows closed
Here's some good news: It's actually better to drive with the AC on than with open windows. Driving with the window down at higher speeds means more resistance and more fuel consumption.
3. Don't drive too fast or too slow
According to Mobil, a vehicle lubricant distributor, driving between speeds of 50 – 90 km/h when on a highway will optimal fuel economy.
4. Drive with elegance
Rapid lane switching, harsh braking and intense acceleration could all lead to higher fuel consumption.
5. Plan your route
Stop-start traffic puts a lot of strain on your engine and burns a lot of fuel, so when it is possible plan your route to avoid traffic.
6. Gear up
Mobil reports that maintaining a higher gear, when appropriate, could help save fuel. If you're driving an automatic car, make use of cruise control to keep your speed constant.
