A 990m² plot of land in Voëlklip, Hermanus, is on the market for R33.5 million.

According to BusinessTech, this is the most expensive piece of land in South Africa.

Hermanus, a coastal town in the Western Cape, is famous for its southern right whale watching, stunning beaches, and scenic landscapes. Once a small fishing village, it is now a sought-after tourist and residential destination.

Over the past few years, an influx of wealthy local and international buyers has driven property prices up, making Hermanus home to some of the most expensive real estate in the country.

The town offers a range of activities, including whale watching, marine safaris, hiking trails, and water sports. Visitors and residents can enjoy the Hermanus Cliff Path, Grotto Beach, and various wine farms.

The area is also home to boutique shopping centres, medical facilities, and fine dining.

Voëlklip, where the R33.5 million plot is located, is a popular holiday spot nestled between mountains and the sea. While modern luxury homes have replaced older fishing cottages, the area has maintained its natural charm.

The 990m² plot sits right on the beach, between two large properties, offering stunning views and prime coastal access.

This high price tag confirms that Hermanus is now on the same level as South Africa’s most prestigious real estate locations, such as Camps Bay and Clifton.
