South African retailers will finally be able to sell their products on the world’s largest e-commerce platform.
Amazon announced that it will launch Amazon.co.za in 2024, providing South African-based sellers the ability to reach customers across the country.
Although the launch is only next year, independent sellers in South Africa can already register their businesses on sell.amazon.com/south-africa.

"We look forward to launching Amazon.co.za in South Africa, providing local sellers, brand owners, and entrepreneurs—small and large—the opportunity to grow their business with Amazon and delivering great value and a convenient shopping experience for customers across South Africa," said Robert Koen, general manager of the Sub-Saharan Africa region for Amazon.
In recent years, the launch of Amazon in South Africa has been one of the most highly anticipated and discussed developments in South Africa.
According to a statement by Amazon, this landmark event will not only change the way South Africans shop, but also promises to have far-reaching impacts on the nation's economy and business landscape.

It fosters opportunities for local entrepreneurs, sellers, and manufacturers to reach a broader customer base.
However, Amazon’s entry into South Africa comes with concerns over competition with existing e-commerce platforms and potential concerns about market dominance, which will need to be addressed.
