Mariah Carey sued over copyright infringement
Mariah Carey is being sued over her smash hit, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.
Songwriter Andy Stone is suing singer Mariah Carey for copyright infringement over the 1994 hit, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.
Stone, who is better known as Vince Vance in the pop band Vince Vance & the Valiants, co-wrote and recorded 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' in 1989, five years before Carey released her version.

According to CCN News, Stone's version of the song received "extensive airplay" during the 1993 Christmas season and Mariah released her version soon after this in 1994.
Stone is arguing that Carey exploited his "popularity" and "style".
Stone is seeking $20-million in damages from Carey and her co-writer Walter Afanasieff, as well as from Sony Corporation of America.

Although the songs have the same title they seem to be musically very different.
It is also still unclear why stone has waited 28 years after the song's release to pursue a lawsuit.
According to BBC News, the Grammy Award-winning singer has yet to respond to the reported lawsuit.
