Meet the SA woman who is marrying two men
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
In an interview with Martin Bester, Jo-Leen Geldenhuys, also known as the Pink Pitbull, opened up about her life and unconventional family dynamics.

Jo-Leen Geldenhuys is a dynamic and strong-willed individual, now widely known on social media, especially TikTok, for her polyamorous relationship with two men.
She has been married to Jack, the father of her four children, for 12 years, and their relationship spans nearly 17 years.
Together, they have built a family with four children, experiencing the trials and triumphs of life side by side. However, Jo-Leen's journey hasn't been without its struggles.
After facing a rocky period due to personal challenges, Jo-Leen and Jack went through a heartbreaking separation.

During this time, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart. But things quickly turned sour when she was subjected to abuse and hardship by the man she had hoped would help her through her difficult time.
Amid the personal turmoil, Jo-Leen escaped the abusive relationship and discovered the world of boxing – a space that helped her regain strength, courage, and the will to move forward in life.
Meeting her second partner, Santini Lee
Through boxing, Jo-Leen met Santini Lee, who fell in love with Jo-Leen almost instantly.
After he pursued her for a while and worked hard to gain her trust, they formed a strong connection. He played a significant role in helping her heal from past abuse and build a hopeful future.
Despite a history that could have torn many families apart, Jo-Leen made the bold decision not to divorce Jack.
Instead, they embraced a polyamorous relationship built on love and mutual respect.

"We all live together, and each has their own space," Jo-Leen shares, emphasising the importance of communication and understanding in their unique setup.
Children and family dynamics
Jo-Leen's children have adjusted well, thriving in a loving and supportive environment.
They are homeschooled and fully aware of their family's unique dynamic.
With two father figures whom they adore, Jo-Leen says, "Our children are comfortable and supportive of what we have."
Challenges and criticism
Navigating societal and legal challenges hasn’t been easy for Jo-Leen.
Critics often question the legality and morality of her polyamorous relationship.
However, Jo-Leen stands firm in her beliefs, stating, "My God is love."
Her faith and her advocacy against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) empower her to challenge societal norms and inspire others.
Cultural and legal contexts
Jo-Leen’s journey sheds light on the complexities of polygamy in South Africa – a society still grappling with double standards.
Under current marital laws, it is legal for a man to have more than one wife, but not legal for a woman to have more than one husband.

Her fight for recognition is a testament to her tenacity and belief in the power of love.
Despite the odds, Jo-Leen’s family, friends, and a growing community are becoming more accepting of her relationship.
Mutual respect and understanding are the pillars that uphold their life together.
Upcoming wedding plans
Looking ahead, Jo-Leen is planning a wedding with Santini, where Jack will proudly stand as the best man.
The ceremony is a celebration of their commitment, love, and the unyielding spirit that defines their lives.
A documentary series is currently in production. The series will explore more about the men and the children, and will delve into everyone's history, which is also very tragic.
Both men also experienced trauma during their childhoods, as did Jo-Leen.
All of these things contributed to changing their perception of love.
32Done Productions is working on the production with Simone Ross as the director.
