South Africa has their own 15-year-old Olympian from Kimberley competing in Tokyo. Boipelo Awuah is a skateboarder.
Great Britain’s youngest-ever Olympian is Sky Brown. She is the youngest skateboarder in the world and will be competing for a medal on 4 August 2021.
Syrian table tennis champ Hend Zaza is 12. She lost in her first-round match but the ability to qualify is an achievement in itself!
Japanese skateboarder Cocana Hiraki, 12, joins Sky and Boipelo as the skateboarders to watch this week and he already holds the title as the youngest Japanese Olympian ever.
Pieter Coetzé is one of South Africa’s swimmers who trains in Pretoria. Breakfast with Martin Bester caught up with the swimmer before the Olympic Games and even though it is not the result he would’ve wanted, his mom told Martin Bester the family and the country is still immensely proud!
