Mia le Roux withdraws from Miss Universe pageant

The Miss South Africa pageant released a statement on Friday, regrettably informing the public of the current reigning Miss SA Mia le Roux's withdrawal from the Miss Universe pageant.
Miss South Africa 2024 Mia le Roux has withdrawn from the Miss Universe pageant amid health concerns.
The official Miss SA pageant released a statement on Friday, November 15, to inform the public of Le Roux's regrettable decision to withdraw from the pageant.

Mia Le Roux expresses, "I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe. Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me. However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength."
The Miss South Africa Organisation states, "Mia has shown incredible courage and grace throughout this difficult period. Her health and well-being are our utmost priority, and we stand by her side, dedicated to ensuring she regains her strength and returns to full health. Our hearts are with her as she takes the necessary steps toward recovery."
At this point, it is not exactly clear what the health concerns are.

Le Roux made history in August when she was crowned as the first deaf Miss South Africa.
She was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one and says her community rallied behind her to give her the gift of hearing, inspiring her desire to make a positive impact and break barriers.
The 28-year-old who was born in Sasolburg, Free State, and raised in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape recently Breakfast with Martin Bester about her new title, her plans for her reign, and being the first deaf Miss SA.
