According to the Pretoria Rekord, it has now been 12 years since the construction of the 'Villa Mall' was stopped.
As the owners of this white elephant are currently scrambling for funds, it is even more unlikely that the "ghost mall" will ever be completed.
Last year, the construction company took the owners of the mall to court to have them pay R249-million in outstanding fees with interest. The overall amount amounted to R500-million.

The 'Villa Mall' was intended to act as an upmarket mall that would compete with the likes of Sandton City and Menlyn Park Shopping Centre.
