Most expensive province for car licence renewals revealed

Here are the average vehicle licence renewal fees per province.

For South Africans, the dreaded car licence renewal comes once a year, meaning you have to spew out an often large amount of money just to ensure you are legal on the road.
According to Business Tech, every province in South Africa has different pricing when it comes to car licences.

Prices in each province depend on the weight and type of your vehicle.
When looking at the different provinces, KwaZulu-Natal reportedly have the highest renewal price for almost every weight class.
Business Tech reports that in KZN, an average hatchback costs R474 and for heavier SUVs, it can cost up to R1,350.
Gauteng is the second most expensive province, followed by the Eastern Cape.
The North West seemingly came in as the cheapest province for ACR licence renewal, followed by Limpopo, followed by the Western Cape, the third cheapest.
The reason for the difference in prices often comes down to the province's financial state.

KZN is known for struggling with revenue collections, which could be part of their expensive car licence renewals.
The Western Cape has some of the lowest rates and tax hikes across all nine provinces.
