The most searched for used car brands in South Africa – latest report

Getting a used car insured will cost you a lot less as compared to a new car.
Especially for first time buyers, a second hand vehicle is more practical and affordable at the same time.
But which used cars are people most interested in?
George Mienie, AutoTrader CEO, released useful statistics about the most desired models and the most searched for used car brands in South Africa.

BMW wins the race as the most searched for brand, and a Toyota Hilux bakkie is the most desired model.
In the top 10 most viewed cars, BMW is the most viewed car brand, receiving 19.3-million views - over nine-million more views than the same period a year ago, a 14,8% share of total views. Its closest competitor (in terms of views) is Volkswagen , receiving 16.5-million views, 12,7% share of total views (CAVs).
The most searched for model, making up 4% of all searches, was the Toyota Hilux (9.3-million searches).

The Volkswagen Golf moved up two places to 2nd place year-on-year, accounting for 3,74% of all searches (8.6-million searches). The Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which was also in 3rd place at the end of the last Bi-Annual Car Industry Report, remained the 3rd most searched for model, taking 3.44% of all model searches (7.9-million).
