No, Martin Bester, that’s not the President!
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Martin Bester thought that he saw President Cyril Ramaphosa – but did he?
Martin Bester was driving in his neighbourhood when he spotted a fleet of vehicles, looking like presidential cars outside a residence.
A few days ago, a veteran African National Congress (ANC) member and MP, Jaqueline Mofokeng, died, a day after her daughter’s passing. She served in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 1999 to 2019. In the 2019 national elections, she was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa.
The ANC caucus in the Gauteng Legislature described her as a trailblazer for her many ideas on matters of women empowerment. She was one of the longest serving members of the Gauteng Legislature, having served as a member for 20 years. ANC caucus spokesperson Lesego Makhubela says Mofokeng was also passionate about youth development.

Martin Bester drove past Mofokeng’s house and thought he spotted our President, Cyril Ramaphosa, standing outside in a group, paying his respects. However, news reader Nathan Daniëls said at the time the President was actually in the Free State.
