Outrage after man force-feeds a fish alcohol

A businessman who force-fed a fish alcohol is now facing criminal charges.

A local businessman is reportedly facing criminal prosecution after a video of him force-feeding a fish alcohol went viral on social media.
The video, which was shared on TikTok and later reshared on various other platforms, has sparked outrage among South Africans.

The footage shows the South African businessman pouring a bottle of Sol beer down the fish’s throat, with the beer visibly dripping down its body.
The incident has sparked widespread backlash online, and the man is now facing criminal charges for animal cruelty.

According to The South African, the SPCA's Jacques Peacock has revealed that an investigation into the incident is underway.
The SPCA intends to pursue criminal prosecution under the Animals Protection Act, calling the businessman's actions "disgusting".

The man is facing provisional charges under sections 2(1)(a), (n), (q), and (r) of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962. This act, which aims to prevent animal cruelty, states that those found guilty may face fines or imprisonment.
