PICTURES: Eerie empty Gauteng streets and highways

As South Africa enters day seven of the national lockdown, the roads are eerily quiet.

In a mission to combat the spread of the coronavirus, streets and highways in Gauteng are empty after President’s Cyril Ramaphosa’s lockdown orders were put into place.
Breakfast with Martin Bester listeners and celebrities have been spending their time in their houses, even before the official lockdown.
Gautrain train and bus services are suspended for the duration of the 21-day Nationwide Lockdown.

The lockdown has turned the national highways such as the N4 in Bronkhorstspruit, Buccleuch Interchange, Pretoria, and the N1 into ghost roads.
