What is the likelihood of a COVID-19 second wave in South Africa? 

Professor Salim Abdul Karim joined Breakfast with Martin Bester to also talk about the likelihood of a vaccine for COVID-19.  

Countries across Europe are seeing a resurgence in COVID-19 cases after successfully slowing outbreaks early in the year. 

Various countries are declaring more cases now than they were during the first wave earlier this year.

Is the spike in COVID-19 infections indicative of what South Africa can expect going into December 2020? 

Professor Karim is Director of the Centre for the AIDS Program of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) and CAPRISA Professor of Global Health at Columbia University.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Karim was chosen to lead a 45-person Ministerial Advisory Committee.

The committee was intended to guide the South African government's response to the pandemic and included several other medical experts.
