A video of people burning money at a braai sparked outrage across South Africa.

So, when a video of people burning money at a braai was shared on social media, it caused quite an outrage.
The video shows a group of people gathered by a braai and cooking their meat.

In between the pieces of meat, however, R100 and R200 notes can be seen lying on the grill burning with the meat.
Some people in the video even proceeded to set the notes alight before placing them back on the grill.

Social media users reacted with disgust and disbelief:
"This is just ridiculous,” one Twitter user wrote. “Why would anyone burn money? It’s just so wasteful.”
“I can’t believe this is real,” another user wrote.
“This is just so sad.”
Even if this was intended as a prank, it is illegal to destroy or tear up money or make a copy of money.
