Consumer experts have revealed the foods that should never be refrigerated.
We never knew putting certain foods in the fridge can do more harm than good.
As South Africans went into a national lockdown in March, we also had to start consuming food differently.
Research has shown that chilling tomatoes below 12 degrees Celsius can change its taste completely.
You might ask where do you store tomatoes? It is important to keep it out of the fridge and away from ‘ethylene-producing foods’ like bananas, oranges, and apples.

Onions and garlic should be stored in a dry, dark place because the fridge causes it to rot quicker.
