The Seychelles Diaries with Breakfast with Martin Bester
Updated | By Etienne Bruwer
Here's a look at some of the highlights from Breakfast with Martin Bester's trip to Seychelles...
Although this year has had many great moments, it has come to a point where most South Africans feel the strain and fatigue of another rollercoaster year.
The Breakfast with Martin Bester team have been invited to an all-expenses paid trip to Seychelles because, well, we deserve it!
Day 5
On day five, the Breakfast with Martin Bester team started the day with a trip to Jardin du Roi.
Jardin du Roi is a spice garden keeping with the original French tradition of the 18th-century spice trade. With superb views, the garden boasts rows of vanilla vines, citronella, cinnamon, and other spices, as well as medicinal and endemic plants that offer a real experience of ‘nature at its best’.
After a beautiful lunch at Jardin du Roi, Martin Bester, Xola Ntshinga, and Philicity Reeken headed off to Takamaka Rum Distillery at La Plaine St Andre.
La Plaine St Andre boasts an iconic heritage site that is home to the distillery's very own museum, a medicinal garden, historical ruins, and, of course, Giant Aldabra tortoises.
The day ended with Dinner at Tamassa Restaurant, compliments of Tourism Seychelles.
Day 4
On day four, the Breakfast with Martin Bester team travelled to the idyllic Constance Lemuria resort on Praslin island.
While the rest of the team had a leisurely day on the resort's beach, Martin Bester spent the day playing golf on the Constance Lemuria golf course. The 18-hole course boasts beautiful greens overlooking scenic mountains and ocean views.
By the end of the day, the team were transferred back to Mahe Island via an Air Seychelles domestic flight, followed by dinner at Bravo! restaurant on Mahe island.
Day 3
On day three, the Breakfast with Martin Bester team were transferred to the beautiful island of La Digue in Seychelles. They were spoiled with a private boat trip from Praslin island to La Digue.
While on La Digue, the team explored the dreamy island while riding local bikes and seeing some of the majestic sights on the island.
The team took a step back in time with a visit to L' Union Estate to see a traditional copra mill and kiln. They explored the antics of the estate’s population of giant land tortoises and strolled around the majestic Plantation House framed by giant granite boulders in landscaped gardens.
The L' Union estate is also home to the cemetery of the original settlers of La Digue and to one of the most pristine beaches in Seychelles – the legendary ‘Anse Source d' Argent’, which is among the most photographed beaches on earth.
Day 2
On day two, the Breakfast with Martin Bester team started their day with a flight to Praslin island in Seychelles.
Upon arrival in Praslin, we made our way to Anse Lazio beach, which is one of the top 10 beaches in the world.
We ended our day with dinner and a stay-over at Le Duc De Praslin Hotel.
Day 1
On day one, the Breakfast with Martin Bester team made their way to the Mission Lodge on Eden island in Seychelles to kick off their stay.
Situated just below the summit of Sans Soucis, the Mission Lodge affords one of the most extraordinary views of Mahé’s west coast. Once the site of a farm and boarding school for liberated slave children that opened in March 1876, it was first known as ‘Venn’s Town’ and then renamed ‘Capucin’. Here one can appreciate the breathtaking view of verdant mountainsides and the vast azure ocean above which majestic tropical birds glide. Tranquillity and stunning natural beauty will conspire to win your heart.
During the day we also made our way to Constance Ephelia Resort for lunch and a zip-lining adventure. The day ended with dinner at Tamassa Restaurant, compliments of Tourism Seychelles.
Tune in to the 'Breakfast with Martin Bester', weekdays from 06:00 - 09:00. Stream the show live here or download our mobile app here.
