‘She didn’t die, she was murdered!’ - Liesl Laurie breaks down on air
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
What does it take for women and children to be safe in South Africa? Martin Bester and Liesl Laurie unpacked that heartbreaking question.
Following the heartbreaking news of the brutal murder of Uyinene Mrwetyana on Monday in Cape Town, Breakfast with Martin Bester placed the spotlight on exactly what is happening in Cape Town at the moment.
Mrwetyana was last seen alive two weeks ago at a post office in Claremont where the suspect - accused of allegedly raping and bludgeoning his victim - works.
Martin Bester took to Twitter to tweet the President of South Africa to take action against the brutal murders, kidnappings, and general safety of women in South Africa.
#DearMrPresident @CyrilRamaphosa @PresidencyZA it's very hard to do our @JacaBreakfast morning show this morning without just talking about murder, anarchy, rape, kidnapping, fear +++

Liesl Laurie pointed out that she and women in general can not go to church, work, the club or even to the park: "We can’t do anything."
