Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Crime statistics in South Africa seem to be very high at the moment, with violent crime heightening.
The Institute of Security Studies' Johan Burger joined Breakfast with Martin Bester on Thursday morning to highlight the predictions made in June by the Institute.
Burger emphasised that there was a massive decrease in murders in South Africa during lockdown level 5.
However, on average, there are now 69 murders a day during lockdown level 3.

The Medical research council released the figures and Burger states there is a clear link between murders and trauma, serious and violent crimes.
The areas suffering most from these violent crimes, as well as theft, would be the areas most affected by poverty.
Is there an increase in farm murders? Burger says: "To a large extent we see an increase on farms but there is also theft on these farms such as livestock theft."
