Spreading Easter Joy at the SOS Children’s Villages
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
The team at Callebaut Chocolate Academy South Africa made 250 kilograms of chocolate easter treats especially for the SOS Children’s Villages.
BACKGROUND: The first SOS Children’s Village was built in Ennerdale in 1984. The Village comprises 15 homes, where children live with their house mothers in a family setting. The children are placed in the care of the home when they are without adequate parental care or at risk of losing it by living in vulnerable circumstances.
"We believe every child belongs in a family and should grow up with love, respect and security. We provide care through our family-like villages, our family strengthening programmes and our community service centres. We build families for children in need, we help them shape their own futures, and we share in the development of their communities”.
The SOS Children’s Villages South Africa has grown to 11 programmes in 8 provinces around South Africa.
Martin Bester spoke to Sam Motsitsi, the Programme Director at SOS Children’s Villages Ennerdale.
