'Stealth Tax': South Africans will have to pay an extra R100 for receiving fines

Stealth Tax? If a motorist receives a fine, an additional R100 must be added.

Government is adding a “stealth tax” to the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (Aarto) Act, with the introduction of an Infringement Penalty Levy.

This means an additional R100 is added to every fine issued, regardless of the value of the fine or its associated demerit points.

If a motorist receives a R200 or R2,000 fine - an additional R100 must be added for the Infringement Penalty Levy.
