Tributes pour in for beloved actress Shaleen Surtie-Richards

‘Nenna’ was a household name for South Africans and we’re sad to hear of her untimely death.

Shaleen Surtie-Richards' family has confirmed that the beloved actress has passed away. Surtie-Richards was a South African television, stage, and film actress.
She is best known for her role in 'Egoli: Place of Gold' as the much-loved Ester ‘Nenna’ Williamse. She also appeared in the 1988 film, 'Fiela se Kind', 'Generations', and most-recently in Quanita Adams’ film ‘Swirl’.

The veteran actress was one of South Africa's most decorated stars. With a myriad of awards and nominations behind her name, Surtie-Richards continued to work until her passing.
Shaleen Surtie-Richards visited Jacaranda FM in 2020.
Tributes poured in for the actress from people in the entertainment industry, as well as television viewers.
